BB Gripper 28202 L

Do you want to teach your Boe-Bot or ActivityBot Robot new tricks, like playing fetch? Our Gripper Kit adds pick-up and carry capability to your robot at the right price. The Gripper features parallel plates that open, clamp onto and lift objects all with one cleverly utilized Parallax Standard Servo. Since the Gripper's servo plugs right into a servo port on the robot's development board, no additional battery pack is needed. The lightweight but sturdy aluminum, brass and plastic Gripper hardware weighs less than 7 ounces.

Key Features:

  • Clamp onto objects up to 2 in (5 cm) wide
  • Lift up to 4 ounces (113 grams) without counterweight
  • Lift up to 14 ounces (397 grams) with counterweight (not included)

Note: Measurements are approximate. The Gripper Kit is compatible with the BASIC Stamp Boe-Bot Robot and Propeller ActivityBot Robot (each sold separately). It is not compatible with the Robot Shield Kit with Arduino.  Please view the Gripper Kit documentation below for a complete parts list.

BB Crawler 30055 M

Make your Boe-Bot® Robot a Crawler with this accessory kit. Includes printed documentation with detailed assembly instructions. The Crawler runs on standard Boe-Bot® source code with only minor adjustments for ground speed. Sample PBASIC code is included in the documentation.

Key Features:

  • 6-legged add-on to give a robot crawling-like movement
  • Easy to assemble and is compatible with existing programs
  • Rubber feet for added traction and surface protection

Note: Boe-Bot® Robot not included.

tank treads

Tank Treads

Turn your Parallax robot into mini-tank with the Tank Tread add-on kit!  Custom-made clear acrylic side panels mount to your robot's aluminum chassis, and hold sets of small rollers for the rubber treads.  A toothed gear replaces your robot's usual wheels, to drive the treads.

Key Features:

  • Compatible with the Boe-Bot, Shield-Bot, and ActivityBot robot kits.
  • Turns your robot into tank that can traverse rugged terrain.
  • Includes standoffs that protect components in case of a roll-over.
  • Treads and higher ground clearance goes over objects that wheels cannot.

NOTE: Robot not included!

line follower

Line Follower

This kit uses QTI infrared emitter/receiver modules to easily enhance the line-following capability of your Boe-BotActivityBot, or Arduino Shield-Bot robot. Mount three or four sensors underneath the chassis, and adjust the position to detect lines of different widths. Learning to use the QTI is easy with the illustrated instructions and example BASIC Stamp, C, or Arduino code in the Downloads and Documentation section below. This kit includes all the circuit and sensor hardware you need to add QTIs to your Parallax small robot.

Key Features:

  • Designed for close proximity infrared detection
  • Use as a digital sensor array to detect black lines in order to follow electrical tape courses or navigate mazes
  • Use as an analog sensor to detect shades of gray
  • Challenge your friends by setting up Boe-Bot line following competitions!

Note: You will need to supply your own robot, white poster board, and black electrical tape.

Ping))) Ultrasonic Distance Sensor

Our PING)))™ ultrasonic sensor provides an easy method of distance measurement. This sensor is perfect for any number of applications that require you to perform measurements between moving or stationary objects.

Interfacing to a microcontroller is a snap. A single I/O pin is used to trigger an ultrasonic burst (well above human hearing) and then "listen" for the echo return pulse. The sensor measures the time required for the echo return, and returns this value to the microcontroller as a variable-width pulse via the same I/O pin.

Key Features:

  • Provides precise, non-contact distance measurements within a 2 cm to 3 m range

  • Ultrasonic measurements work in any lighting condition, making this a good choice to supplement infrared object detectors

  • Simple pulse in/pulse out communication requires just one I/O pin

  • Burst indicator LED shows measurement in progress

  • 3-pin header makes it easy to connect to a development board, directly or with an extension cable, no soldering required

Application Ideas:

  • Security systems

  • Interactive animated exhibits

  • Parking assistant systems

  • Robotic navigation

Ping))) Mounting Bracket kit

Equip your Boe-Bot, ActivityBot, or Robotics Shield Kit (for Arduino) to make a 180° sweep of its environment to locate and determine the location and distance to obstacles with the PING))) Ultrasonic Distance Sensor. Great for autonomous navigation, or to hone in on a specific object; includes a Parallax Standard Servo, aluminum brackets and complete mounting hardware.

Key Features:

  • Mounting platform for the PING))) sensor module on a robot

  • Sturdy brackets for PING))) sensor and servo

  • Easy to install and use

  • Adds distance detection to a project

  • Non-intrusive frequency band (40 kHz)

3 Function Universal Remote

This infrared remote controller is programmable for use with many different brands of televisions and other devices. But, we think it is most fun when used to control your robot!  Signals from this remote are compatible with the IR Receiver included in the Boe-Bot, Shield-Bot, and ActivityBot robot kits.  Your robot's microcontroller brain can decode the remote's signals, and then drive or blink lights or make sounds in response. Our tutorials and projects show you how.

Key Features:

  • Large number are easy to read and push

  • 5-button direction pad and four additional function keys provide more options for custom applications

  • Manual included to program the remote for compatibility with dozens fo different TV manufacturer's protocols

  • Example robotics applications for BASIC Stamp, Arduino, and Propeller C
