Students love robots, so why not use them to engage while teaching almost any topic?
Elementary teachers use Exploring Robotics Curriculum with robots in math, science, language arts, history, art, or in a learning lab or makerspace to engage students. The lessons focus on math, science, or coding and also include cross-curricula projects and provide performance task activities for Math test prep.
Middle and High School teachers use Exploring Robotics Curriculum to create an elective course in robotics, coding, CS, STEM, or engineering programs. The program implementation will vary across districts based on rotation and number of students at the school.
A lot of thought went into designing each program. The combination of curriculum, PD, STEM Lab stations that include robots, accessories, and all materials provides a total turn-key solution. Most of the robots are pre-assembled which means it is fast to get started, and easy to move them from one class to another. Accessory Kits provide everything needed to complete the lessons: batteries, chargers, math tools, drawing/art tools, and science tools. Students are put into teams of 2 or 3 and learn teamwork skills.
We believe that any teacher can be a STEM teacher and every student can succeed at STEM.
What Makes Exploring Robotics Curriculum Unique?
A research-based design. Utilizing an inquiry-based format following the (5E) lesson model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) students explore STEM through hands-on, applied technology and project-based learning (PBL). The lesson objectives and assessments are aligned to NGSS, Math, ELA, CSTA, and ISTE standards, and teachers can choose lessons to focus on teaching particular standards.
It teaches the tough technology topics. We know teachers are busy and often don't have time to learn about robots, coding, and engineering while planning STEM lessons. That's why our technology experts teamed up with instructional designers and teachers to create interactive media curricula with videos and step-by-step instructions. The videos, questions, assessments, and self-paced format of the lessons make it easy to teach STEM topics like Coding, Physics, Physical Science, Computer Science, Electronics, Engineering and Mechatronics.
A self-paced format. The lessons include videos, animations, simulations, and step-by-step instruction with graphic illustrations to demonstrate the tough technology topics. Students work in teams at their own pace. This leaves teachers free to walk the room, ask questions that deepen learning, and work with students who need more assistance.
It is comprehensive.
Each curriculum is designed for specific robots. The lessons include instructions for learning about the technology aspects of the robot system. The hardware, software, coding, and control systems are covered in a way that is easy to comprehend and yet fun and challenging for students. The coding instruction progresses gradually and are guided by the CSTA standards for the appropriate grade level. Competitions and projects are included as a way for students to put it all together and demonstrate that they have grasped the concepts.
It is online and the license is per course (only number of students signing in, not all students in the school). This provides flexibility for scheduling and substantial savings when compared to other STEM programs.
It is great for STEAM programs. The A in STEAM is implemented with the drawing, music, writing, storytelling, and other arts included in the lessons. This makes the lessons more inclusive and engages not only the boys who like technology, but also the girls and those who are more artistic.
Uses robots to engage students in coding. With every robot package we provide lessons to teach coding - Blockly, Scratch, Python, Basic, C, or Java. Students start learning sequence, events, and control with loops as early as 2nd grade and progress through each grade to learn more complex coding methods. By the time they graduate high school they are ready to apply skills to a job or progress into Computer Science, Engineering, or other STEM programs at a college or University.
