K-12 CS/STEM Lab Stations

What is a STEM Lab? It's where students do hands-on learning. Think of it like a science lab but without all the custom equipment and special benches. Create a STEM lab in the back of a class, an old computer lab, a library, a cafeteria, or anywhere you have tables and chairs. At home; provide One to one robots with student lab stations in a plastic box for easy transport paired with online self-paced lessons accessed on a Chromebook, tablet, or laptop. 

CS/STEM Lab Stations are ready-to-go, turn-key STEM programs that include online Curriculum with printed Teacher Guide books, coding Apps, robots, spare parts, charging stations, plastic storage boxes with math tools, art materials, and accessories to complete hands-on activities and in-class competitions.  Students can work alone or in teams of 2 to 3. Purchase one Teacher Station and enough Student Stations to fit each class size. Use with existing Chromebooks, Tablets, laptops, or we can provide robot controllers ;-)

CS/STEM Lab Stations are great for classrooms, after school, makerspaces, camps, clubs, online learning and homeschool; with customized lesson plans for each. Teachers (or parents) don't have to be an expert in coding or engineering, those are included as step-by-step instruction. Lessons integrate math, science, technology, and coding with fun robots and hands-on activities. PD and Support for Teachers

Teachers need more than just robots.  Science and Math teachers can integrate coding and engineering into classrooms, but only when they have the background knowledge, pedagogy and are supported with coaching sessions and integrated STEM lessons. PD and coaching is now available for educators on how to setup and conduct CS/STEM online courses. 

Exploring Robotics professional learning sessions help teachers collaborate together to create projects where robots and drones are used to engage students. Engineering design and computer science concepts are introduced along with project based learning (PBL) and the inquiry method of teaching. Tips are provided for how to organize classrooms, encourage group collaboration, and use the 5E model to teach science concepts.  

Professional learning sessions are in a blended format that is easy to schedule; using 1 to 2 hr live video chat and online resources. Teachers experience learning as students and walk away with ready to implement integrated STEM lessons and projects to apply science, math, and ELA in real-world scenarios with a robot or drone.

K-12 Coding and STEM Pathway

Your school can offer a complete online STEM K-12 Pathway, or fill in the gaps for grades that don't currently have STEM or coding solutions with Exploring Robotics Units in K-5 and Elective Courses in 6-12. One online course can often meet CTE requirements, CS K-12 requirements, plus the Physical Science and Engineering requirements for many states.

Each grade can have hands-on STEM labs that integrate the CSTA-K12 and NGSS standards into science and math with projects.  These robots, drones, and STEM kits are rugged for classroom use and have apps to fit the level of computer science concepts for each grade. 

This STEM pathway provides a progression of computer science and engineering design concepts. The lessons have been aligned to grade level math and science standards, to make it easier to implement as supplemental materials.

STEM Station small What is included in STEM Lab Stations?

A turn-key solution for science or STEM labs.  Each lab station includes  robots, online lessons, worksheets, chargers, accessories, lab materials for math, engineering, and science activities to complete the challenges, including consumables. Students use existing tablets, ChromeBooks or computer devices (or we can provide them if needed).

It is all organized with storage boxes and checklists. Lab stations are easily moved on carts or stored on shelves. If you need carts or locked storage solutions, we can also provide those. (Contact Us for a quote.)

  • There are STEM lab kits for teachers and for each lab station.     
  • Students work at a lab station alone or in teams of 2 or 3. 

In a cooperative learning environment, the Curriculum online lessons provide roles for each student to play; where one is coding, another is the robot technician, and the third is the leader and documenter.  Students switch roles at the start of each lesson, so each can experience all roles and develop both engineering skills and social skills. They work together to complete projects following NGSS engineering design practices. Step-by-step instruction and videos help teach the coding and engineering topics, allowing any teacher to become a STEM teacher.

Students learn by doing at a STEM lab station. Every grade can now have investigation, engineering design, and coding with easy to teach Elective Courses that embed 21st Century skills, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

        1. STEM Lab Stations with robust robots and STEM kits for instruction (most can be used for 3 to 4 years) appropriate for each grade level.  These include chargers, accessories, spare parts, materials for completing math and science activities, and everything needed for success (see description above).

Dash Robots with STEM Curriculum (Grades K-5)

Dash ​is adorable, makes fun sounds and is easy to control with a tablet. Students use Blockly coding to control Dash to solve fractions and multiplication tables, navigate grids and maps using coordinates, recreate historical events, shoot hoops, and so much more. They learn coding fundamentals of sequence, control, events, and logic.

Ozobot Robots with STEM Curriculum (Grades K-5)

Ozobot ​“world’s smallest programmable robot”, senses lines of different colors and color sequences.  Students use codes to make the robot dance, spin, flash lights and race about as they apply math and science concepts in lessons. In Blockly coding language they use loops, variables, conditionals, functions, random numbers, math operations, and more! 

Middle School Coding and STEM Program (Grades 6-7)

In middle (intermediate or junior high) school, bring out the explorer and inventor: engaging with coding, robots, and invention kits will pique their interest in STEM subjects and motivate them to participate. This interest opens up a world of opportunity for STEM careers. Our standards-based curriculum will help develop 21st Century and coding skills. mBot Robots with STEM Curriculum (Grades 6-8)

mBot is a STEAM education robot for beginners that makes teaching and learning robot programming simple and fun. With just a screwdriver and step by step instructions, children can build a robot from scratch and experience the joys of hands-on creation. As they go, they will learn about a variety of robotic machinery and electronic parts, get to grips with the fundamentals of block-based programming, and develop their logical thinking and design skills.

Scribbler Robots with STEM Curriculum (Grades 6-7)

Scribbler ​robot has a pen port; students use different colored pens and program scribbler to create their own drawings and dance routines. But to do so, they must use measurements, geometry, and some algebraic equations; i.e. apply math to draw. Competitions are included where students come together to create a team-choreographed scribbler dance routine, draw complex pictures, navigate mazes, follow lines, and avoid obstacles.
