The online curriculum (with a printed book for teachers) includes lessons with videos on setting up the hardware and software, Scratch programming, the Internet of Things, Inventing and engineering design, connecting and using each of the GrovePi kit items, and a final project build challenge. Teaches Scratch coding, inventing, and the engineering design cycle while building a custom project controlled with a Raspberry Pi. Lessons are aligned to NGSS, CSTA, Math, and ELA standards.

The Starter Kit includes the GrovePi board, Raspberry Pi 3 board, Grove 2-sided Acrylic Case to protect the Raspberry Pi, 12 Grove sensors, Ethernet Cable, Power Adapter and microSD Card with Dexter's custom software for the Raspberry Pi so you can get up and running quickly. Requires a keyboard, mouse, and Monitor (not included). Instructions are included for how to use a PC or Mac computer as the keyboard and monitor to connect to the Raspberry Pi through the Ethernet Cable and then with Wifi, however not all school networks will allow this configuration.

With a GrovePi+ board and 12 carefully selective Grove sensors with cables, this kit gets you up and running with the Raspberry Pi quickly. Just follow the instructions to slip the GrovePi+ board over the Raspberry Pi board and connect sensors to the GrovePi+, and you are ready to start developing things with the powerful platform.
The GrovePi+board is stacked on top of the Raspberry Pi board without the need for any other connections. Communication between the two occurs over the I2C interface. All Grove modules connect to the universal Grove connectors on the GrovePi+ shield via the universal 4 pin connector cables which are included.
The Grove modules (sensors) work on analog and digital signals, connect directly to the ATMEGA328 microcontroller on the Grove Pi+. The microcontroller acts as an interpreter between the Raspberry Pi and the Grove sensors. It sends, receives, and executes commands sent by the RaspberryPi. Programming interfaces are included for Python and Scratch languages to connect to the modules.
The GrovePi+ board is compatible with Raspberry Pi A+,B,B+/2.
