K-12 CS/STEM Lab Stations

What is a STEM Lab? It's where students do hands-on learning. Think of it like a science lab but without all the custom equipment and special benches. Create a STEM lab in the back of a class, an old computer lab, a library, a cafeteria, or anywhere you have tables and chairs. At home; provide One to one robots with student lab stations in a plastic box for easy transport paired with online self-paced lessons accessed on a Chromebook, tablet, or laptop. 

CS/STEM Lab Stations are ready-to-go, turn-key STEM programs that include online Curriculum with printed Teacher Guide books, coding Apps, robots, spare parts, charging stations, plastic storage boxes with math tools, art materials, and accessories to complete hands-on activities and in-class competitions.  Students can work alone or in teams of 2 to 3. Purchase one Teacher Station and enough Student Stations to fit each class size. Use with existing Chromebooks, Tablets, laptops, or we can provide robot controllers ;-)

PD and Support for Teachers

Teachers need more than just robots.  Science and Math teachers can integrate coding and engineering into classrooms, but only when they have the background knowledge, pedagogy and are supported with coaching sessions and integrated STEM lessons. PD and coaching is now available for educators on how to setup and conduct CS/STEM online courses. 

Exploring Robotics professional learning sessions help teachers collaborate together to create projects where robots and drones are used to engage students. Engineering design and computer science concepts are introduced along with project based learning (PBL) and the inquiry method of teaching. Tips are provided for how to organize classrooms, encourage group collaboration, and use the 5E model to teach science concepts.  

Professional learning sessions are in a blended format that is easy to schedule; using 1 to 2 hr live video chat and online resources. Teachers experience learning as students and walk away with ready to implement integrated STEM lessons and projects to apply science, math, and ELA in real-world scenarios with a robot or drone.

K-12 Coding and STEM Pathway

Your school can offer a complete online STEM K-12 Pathway, or fill in the gaps for grades that don't currently have STEM or coding solutions with Exploring Robotics Units in K-5 and Elective Courses in 6-12. One online course can often meet CTE requirements, CS K-12 requirements, plus the Physical Science and Engineering requirements for many states.

Each grade can have hands-on STEM labs that integrate the CSTA-K12 and NGSS standards into science and math with projects.  These robots, drones, and STEM kits are rugged for classroom use and have apps to fit the level of computer science concepts for each grade.

Elementary Robotics Curriculum for Ozobot

What is Ozobot?

Ozobots are tiny robots that love colors and can be controlled by students using pen and paper, tablets, or computers. With them you can bring robots into your classroom or maker space to teach coding, math, science, ELA and other topics!  See ozobot options in Store.

  • Coding introduces critical thinking, problem solving, the scientific method, algorithms, and more! These robots are unique in their use of light sensors to detect colors and the color sequences tell them what to do!

  • Use tablets or smart phone Apps with touch and graphic interfaces to control the robots.  

  • Exploring Robotics STEAM lessons are adaptable to different age groups, and expandable for teaching additional concepts.

  • We also provide Teacher Professional Development and support —getting started, use of robots, coding, lesson plans. Now any classroom, math, science, or technology teacher, or librarian and media specialist can use these robots in a class, summer camp, or after school program, with no special credentials required.




What can Ozobots do?

 These robots are so tiny and cute, yet rugged! Students love them. They follow colored lines to move, flash lights, dance, and apply math and science concepts.

Students control their movements by drawing colored lines on paper, or using simple Apps on tablets or smart phones, or with OzoBlockly (a programming language that snaps together like puzzle pieces).

Students program Ozobot to move, play games, and dance through intuitive color coded patterns. Each color pattern is associated to specific moves that Ozobot understands and performs. These colored patterns are part of Ozobot’s color-ful language called OzoCodes. Here are few examples:

Ozobot STEAM Lessons

The Exploring Robotics Ozobot Curriculum online lessons for teachers are broken out into 3 sections, so you can choose to teach with pen and paper, with tablets, or teach Ozoblockly on just about any device!  Each section has 8 to 12 lessons. The lessons include teaching instructions, printable worksheets, and powerpoints for Blockly coding that progress from simple to more complex topics.

Lessons integrate math and science to move the robot, and language arts to draw, describe projects, and develop games and presentations. Also teaches coding concepts using a graphic programming language.

Science: Apply the scientific method, explore the light color spectrum, patterns, and communication methods.

Technology—Coding: Analyze problems and design algorithms to program robot actions, use logic, and develop reasoning using Blockly, a visual drag-and-drop coding tool.

Engineering: Line following, sensors, calibrate the robot, navigate mazes, and explore engineering principles. 

Arts: Colors, patterns, drawing, music, and also writing, timelines, story telling, and creating presentations.

Math: Reason abstractly and explore the number line, fractions, probability, statistics, solving real world problems, geometry, angles, curves, diameter, distance, time, measuring and variables. 

This Curriculum with more than 30 hours of activities makes it easy to:

    • Use plain white paper, markers and add creativity. Draw lines and add color codes then watch Ozobot read & react to your commands!
    • Challenge students with math, statistics, and competitive games, or choreograph custom dances with OzoGroove!
    • Use coding to enhance critical thinking, problem solving, science, math, art, and more!

    • Adapt lessons to different age groups, and expand for teaching additional STEAM concepts.
